22nd Annual Spring Research Conference

22nd Annual Spring Research Conference

The 22nd Annual Spring Research Conference was held Saturday, 15 March 2008 in the Jesse Knight Building. This year 331 students, both graduate and undergraduate, presented their research in a setting similar to professional conferences. Students from all college disciplines were judged on their presentations and 49 session winners were selected.

The BYU Mathematics Department hosted a joint National CURM (Center for Undergraduate Mentoring in Mathematics) Conference & the MAA (Mathematical Association of America) Intermountain Section Meeting which was held on March 14th & 15th. Students from many universities and colleges such as University of Wisconsin, Concordia University Irvine, Saint Martins University, College of William & Mary, St. Olaf College, Sam Houston State University, Lamar University, James Madison University, Montclair University, CSU Channel Islands, and several others attended these joint meetings, and 25 CURM students participated in the Spring Research Conference.

Additionally, in an effort to promote mathematics and science in education, this year the college extended a conference invitation to Utah High School math and science teachers and their students. Special conference sessions were specifically designed to inform students of the varying research fields available to them in mathematics and science.
