22nd Annual Spring Research Conference

The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences announces the 22nd Annual Spring Research Conference, 8:00am, Saturday, 15 March 2008 in the Jesse Knight Building. This conference provides students an opportunity to present their current research in a manner similar to professional conferences. The college will showcase 330 undergraduate and graduate student research presentations from the Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Physics & Astronomy and Statistics departments, and 22 visiting students from CURM (Center for Undergraduate Research in Mathematics).

The BYU Mathematics Department is hosting the joint National CURM Conference & the MAA (Mathematical Association of America) Intermountain Section Meeting beginning 9am, Friday, March 14th in the Wilkinson Center Garden Court. Faculty and students from many universities and colleges such as University of Wisconsin, Concordia University Irvine, Saint Martins University, College of William & Mary, St. Olaf College, Sam Houston State University, Lamar University, James Madison University, Montclair University, CSU Channel Islands, and several others will be in attendance at these joint meetings, and participating in the Spring Research Conference.

Additionally, in an effort to promote mathematics and science in education, this year the college has extended a conference invitation to Utah High School math and science teachers and their students. Special conference sessions have been specifically designed to inform students of the varying research fields available to them in mathematics and science.
