External Scholarships

There are many external or non-BYU scholarships available to students. The following resources list opportunities for scholarships, fellowships, grants, and funding for research and research programs available to students studying CPMS majors.

Scholarships with Upcoming Deadlines

 


May 16
The scholarship includes up to a $9,000 academic scholarship, not to exceed 75% of verified tuition, and a $6,000 stipend for a required Summer 2015 ten-week internship at a NASA center.Eligible students include rising freshman (high school graduating seniors or GED recipients not yet enrolled in college), sophomores and juniors, at the undergraduate level, who will complete their undergraduate degree in Spring 2016 or later and Minority Serving Institution community college students with at least two years remaining at the community college.

The Undergraduate Award includes:
* Up to $15,000 awarded for each school year, to be used for education related expenses
* Summer internship at a NASA Research Center with a stipend in an amount up to $10,000The Graduate Award includes:
* $35,000 annual stipend
* Up to $11,000 awarded for each school year, to be used for tuition and other education related expenses
* Two (2) $10,000 Summer internship at a NASA Research Center


July 1
The Fullbright U.S. Student Program funds international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide in 140 countries. Grants are awarded in nearly all fields and disciplines, including the sciences, professional fields, and Creating and Performing Arts.

July 1
The Marshall Scholarship funds graduate study at any British University. The Marshall application should be completed during the spring term before senior year.

July 1
For one year of graduate study at any institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. The Mitchell Application should be completed during the spring/summer before graduation.

The Rhodes Scholarship annually funds 32 scholarships for graduate study at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes application should be completed during the spring term before senior year.

Scholarship Databases

This office maintains a list of external (non-BYU) scholarships and fellowship opportunities. Their database is searchable by several criteria including scholarship name, discipline of study, demographic group, professional programs and specialized lists of interest areas. They also maintain records of other opportunities including internships, study abroad programs, research opportunities, summer programs, and competitions.

CollegeAnswer.com is maintained by SallieMae. The site gives away a $1,000 scholarship each month to a registered user through a random drawing. Registered users of the site can also search their database of scholarships for free.

CollegeProwler.com houses a database of scholarships, which are available to registered users. These users are also eligible to recieve a $2,000 scholarship in their “No Essay” College Scholarship drawing.
